You should be proud of yourself. There is no way to justify the police action or university response. While the police ignored and abused your rights, under the constitution you still have the right to file charges against them for this and are not powerless. If you do that, you will send a powerful message that they cannot get away with what they did. If you do not win, appeal, and don’t give up.
